P68M allotted to complete Burauen-Albuera Road

CARIGARA, Leyte- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) allocated a budget of P68 million for the completion of the Burauen-Albuera Road.

According to Ma. Margarita C. Junia, the Second Leyte Engineering District (2nd LED) engineer, P50 million of the said amount will go to the pavement of the two-kilometer road and Lobi Bridge construction. Meanwhile, the P18 million will be used to construct the Balagnon Bridge.

“If these entire projects will be completed next year (2013), the Burauen side of the road will be opened to traffic,” Junia stated.

This 36.22 kilometer-road project was begun in 2008. As of now, only 14.25 km of the road is concrete, 10.06 is gravel, and 48 m of bridges are complete. Overall, 2.17 km is still to be opened in the part of Burauen and 6.26 km in the side of Albuera, which is under the Fourth Leyte Engineering District.

The completion of the Burauen-Albuera Road will lessen travelling time from Tacloban City to Ormoc City. Instead of passing through eight towns, which equals to 107 km distance, travelers just have to go through five towns with an overall distance of 89 km.
